Choosing a winning seat scientifically

Changed entries or pages

Redesigned main FAQ entry by demoting question mark graphic to lower position and inserting  default P1 graphic

Add new FAQ entry about “Exit” not working when arrive from link that opens new window or tab

Minor fixes

Functionality added, discontinued, or changed…

None

Other…

Removed top left cloud from header.jpg in the p1normal-test theme, because we’re debating whether three clouds makes the header design seem slightly too cluttered

Activated the p1normal-test theme temporarily, and left it in service for now, to see if we like two-clouds to right of Poker1 better than three clouds

Added fine-leather-grain (like that on a 2010-04-05 test theme of which only necessary parts were transferred) to background surrounding site on wider screens. (Process — as added to p1normal-test theme, which is currently active: The graphic file “page_t.jpg” was copied to the “p1normal-test/image” folder and a call to that graphic was inserted into the main CSS file.)

Lightened page_t.jpg so that outermost thin gray border around main side contrasts more with widescreen background fill. Abandoned Photoshop retouch and simply made Irfanview gamma correction (set to 1.32, after experimenting with several p1normal-test theme revisions).

Poker tournaments are broken — How to fix them

Changed entries or pages

None

Functionality added, discontinued, or changed…

Fixed theme so that header shows Doyle’s Room banner again. Was broken while reverting to backup theme one week ago (2010-04-04) when header update failed. Banner now reactivated.

Made Doyle’s Room banner adjustment with non-breaking spaces (“ ”— an alternative for possibly problematic x-y positioning inside theme), reducing them from 19 (used in old header) to six to better position banner between Poker1 logo at left and globe at right

Worked around task that was “Get new PHP header code from Doyle’s Room and insert into pending new Poker1 header.” Doyle’s Room was contacted a week ago, but the PHP code for the remotely hosted banner was deemed no longer necessary, because we were able to, without assistance, get the same JavaScript code as previously used for the DR banner working inside the new header for the p1normal theme.

Created, named and installed eight themes for quick switching: p1normal-dr-banner-2010-04-11 (the one usually in use), p1normal-dr-banner-revert-2010-04-11-copy-a (backup for emergency), p1normal-dr-banner-revert-2010-04-11b (backup for emergency), p1normal-NO-DR-BANNER-2010-04-11 (the one to be usually used when no banner is wanted), p1normal-NO-DR-BANNER-2010-04-11-copy-a (no-banner backup for emergency), p1normal-NO-DR-BANNER-2010-04-11-copy-b (no-banner backup for emergency), p1normal-test (for testing changed functionality and design), and p1normal-test-revert

Other…

Reinstalled latest p1normal theme, switching first to a backup (revert) and uploaded two revert copies for emergencies and one for experimentation

Moved upper cloud in header a bit lower so it doesn’t quite touch bottom of banner, redrawing two clouds slightly (the one targeted and the bigger one below)

Reduced margin above top of page from 14 pixels to 2 pixels, moving the entire site footprint much closer to the browser’s lowest toolbar or other horizontal element

Reshaped clouds for greater harmony with theme having banner

Added “Very bad poker tournament advice — Here’s why” to Spotlight

Removed “Mike Caro poker word is No-limit” from Spotlight

Replaced screenshot.png on all themes to show actual image of theme within “Manage Themes” administration, rather than image of older version
