Huge bank denying withdrawals to UK customers who can’t give acceptable reasons BBC ↑
Mike Caro says:
Apparently these banks can do this in accordance with contracts that depositors sign.
Still, it’s more than a little unsettling to have to assume the role of a child begging a parent for movie money, just to withdraw your own funds. I frequently withdrew large amounts of money from local Ozarks banks before travelling to Las Vegas and other venues. I usually notified the banks a day in advance to make sure they’d have enough cash on hand, but I never felt that I had to explain it. “It’s so I can gamble.” “What? You can’t take that much money and gamble with it!” “I was just teasing you. I need it for heart surgery.” — MC
