Although I admire much of what Arpaio stands for and does, I’m strongly against his position on this. Respect for American flags must come from the heart, and disrespect for them must be defended as a right.

You don’t have to love America or its flag they way I do. And that’s true whether you’re walking the streets as a free citizen or confined to jail. And while we’re at it, I believe that all unconvicted prisoners who are in jail or prison awaiting trial should be treated with utmost respect and dignity and pampered, until they are found guilty. “Innocent until proven guilty” means something in my mind. — MC
