Hello all.
Im 20 and trying to get a bankroll goin off leftovers from being a lowly waiter. I used to play a lot of 25$ NL tables online and made a bit o scratch but didnt have the bankroll to maintain. Im now focussing on small buy in tourneys and just had my first decent cash of about $450 this past week. Excited to see the forum up and running and the conversation starting to roll in.

Hi,

I’m a magician in South Florida and perform as “Stash” (a Polish magician that Poland is happy to get rid of), and as “The Great Tombino” (a classic magician act).

Online I play poker mostly at Full Tilt under the name of Citytom. I usually play in the $30-$50 multi table tournaments and SNG’s. Say hello if you see me.

I played in seven events at the World Series Of Poker this year, and still “high” from the experience. Sorry to say I didn't make it to the money in any, but I played good, lasted long ( one time getting bounced three places from the money).

I also produced a step by step instructional DVD on how to perform a variety of poker chip tricks and flourishes. Please visit my website at www.pokerchipsvideo.com

Hello, all. Checked out the site a few days ago, thought I'd register and introduce myself. The name's Jack, but I decided it would help anyone recognize me online if I kept the same handle.

I'm pretty much in the amateur category. I think I play alright, but I know I have a lot to learn (hence registering here). If I work at it and can get good, maybe I'll move back home to Reno and try to make some money (Navy guy, stationed in VA).

That's about it. I'm mostly playing at PokerStars. DoylesRoom is alright, but I'm still inclined more to go with what I'm used to. IMO, PartyPoker and AbsolutePoker (I registered for a local free tourney) are pretty bad. About the only other place I play is at friends' houses.

Oh hey RiverRat. I've played with you at doylesroom.com. I'm "heart_burn" on that site. I haven't played there in a while but I'll be coming back to play some rebuy tournaments!!

I use to play exclusively limit hold'em. Mostly $8/$16 and $15/$30. But I've found that sit 'n gos require a small bankroll and can make a lot of money. Like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

I moved from sit 'n gos and am currently playing NL Hold'em Tournaments at pokerstars.com. I won four sit 'n gos in a row but doylesroom stiffed me on the promotion of $250.

I am a professional, but have only played on a self-sustaining bankroll that pays for expenses for half a year so I am still new.

And Mike Caro says not to talk strategy at the table but he has his top tips on top of the doylesroom.com poker client scrolling across the screen. Hmmm?????

Little kid: "A schooner IS a sailboat stupid head."
Adult: [Becoming enraged] "You know what? There is NO Easter Bunny. Over there, that's just a guy in a suit."

I think I give the term Newbie new meaning. I started playing in April 05 and have participated in 7 tournament style home games. I love the game and probably watch in on TV about 8 hours a week.

I am reading eveverything can get my hands on and think this forum is great. Just trying to be a sponge soaking up the knowledge.

I look forward to participating in discussions and improving my game. The game seems to move a little fast for me right now but I'm sure with practice I will get better.

Thanks for all the information.

Since Mike is an odd's man I was wondering what are the odds for a 66 year young novice poker man becoming an acomplished poker player and competing with "some" of the best?

Appreciate your input.

Not ready to fold yet.

The game of hold'em does move very fast, friend. But you'll get the hang of it.

Just putting my $.02.  I am new to the site and new to poker.  Still trying to read and learn something about the game before I risk my hard-earned wages at the tables.  I have to do it right because I have a small wager with my wife that one can win at poker with the proper education, while she says that all gambling games are the same, relying on more luck than skill (she plays slots and "casino" card games like 3-card poker and Bonus 6 at the limited stakes casinos here in Colorado).

Looking forward to improving my chances with the experts that hang out here...

Rick
